Ben Davies will continue his long association with Tottenham Hotspur after agreeing to a one-year extension that keeps him at the club until the conclusion of next season.
The experienced Wales international had been approaching the end of his previous contract, which was scheduled to expire later this month, raising the prospect of his departure. Instead, Tottenham have secured his services for another campaign, ensuring his time in north London stretches into a 13th year.
The club values experience and leadership
Having arrived from Swansea in July 2014, Davies has become one of the club’s longest-serving figures. Throughout his time with Spurs, he has established himself as a dependable member of the squad and an important presence within the dressing room.
Tottenham’s leadership believes his knowledge and influence will be particularly valuable during Roberto de Zerbi’s first full season at the helm. His experience is viewed as an important asset as the club prepares for the challenges ahead.
An injury-hit season limited appearances
The defender endured a difficult campaign after suffering a broken ankle that required surgery in January. The injury significantly restricted his involvement during the season.
As a result, Davies featured only three times in the Premier League. Tottenham struggled throughout the campaign but ultimately managed to avoid dropping into the Championship.
More than a decade of service
Over the course of his Tottenham career, Davies has accumulated 363 appearances across all competitions. In addition to his defensive contributions, he has found the net on 10 occasions.
The new contract ensures the 33-year-old will add to those totals as he continues his lengthy spell with the club and remains part of Spurs’ plans for another season.
