Wolves have reached an agreement to bring striker Raul Jimenez back to the club on a free transfer after his departure from Fulham. The 35-year-old has successfully completed his medical and signed a two-year contract that also includes the possibility of an additional season.
The move marks a return to familiar surroundings for the Mexican international, who previously represented Wolves between 2018 and 2023 following his switch from Benfica.
His arrival comes as the club prepares for life in the Championship after suffering relegation from the Premier League last season.
Second free addition of the summer
Jimenez becomes Wolves’ second free signing ahead of the new campaign. Earlier, former England full-back Kieran Trippier also agreed to join the club after leaving Newcastle.
Like Jimenez, the 35-year-old defender has signed a two-year deal, adding further experience to the squad as Wolves look to reshape their roster.
The pair are expected to play important roles as the club targets a response to last season’s disappointing league performance.
Impressive record from first spell
During his previous stay at Molineux, Jimenez established himself as one of the club’s key attacking players. Across 166 appearances, he scored 57 goals and became a prominent figure in the Wolves side.
His first spell lasted five years and followed his move from Portuguese club Benfica. The striker now has the opportunity to add to both his appearance and goal totals after completing his return.
The agreement reunites Wolves with a player who already has extensive experience at the club and a proven record in its colours.
Transfer confirmed during international duty
Confirmation of the deal comes while Jimenez is away with Mexico on international duty. The World Cup co-hosts are scheduled to begin their campaign against South Africa on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Fulham announced on Monday that the forward would be among the players leaving the club when their contracts expire at the end of June.
As Wolves prepare for their first season outside the Premier League since 2017-18, the return of Jimenez represents another step in the club’s rebuilding plans.
