Antonio Conte labels Juventus links disrespectful

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has laughed at suggestions of a move to Juventus soon. The former Juventus manager has been linked with a return to the club he left about eight years ago.

Tottenham have started the season well and are pushing to win the Premier league. Tottenham witnessed heavy investment in the summer that saw the arrival of several players to give the north London side a boost. The Conte-led side has confounded many projections by usurping traditional favourites Chelsea and Liverpool to a place in the top four.

Despite the season still in its infancy, the performance of the north London club has attracted plenty of attention, with speculations beginning to surround the future of their manager.

With the north London derby coming this weekend, it takes on a more vital position as Spurs need a win to knock Arsenal off their perch at the top of the table. Tottenham are yet to lose a game in the Premier League this season and seems focused on the match ahead, but there are distractions over the long-term future of Antonio Conte at the club. Several reports have linked the Italian gaffer to a move away from Tottenham.

Conte: A target for Juventus

Juventus are not enjoying the dominance it used in the Serie A and want to get the Bianconeri out of the rut. The past couple of seasons has seen the Old Lady struggle to make an impact domestically and on the continent. The multiple-time Serie A winners seek answers for their current predicament.

Things aren’t looking good at the Turin side, and according to 90min, the out-of-form Juventus have started looking ahead and have earmarked a reunion with former manager Antonio Conte. The reports suggest Juventus could part ways with Massimiliano Allegri, but the move is looking impossible due to the dire financial situation the club finds itself. Juventus just posted annual losses of almost €250m.

Reports in the Italian media claim Conte – a former manager of the Bianconeri, is keen to return to Turin after spending more than eight years away from the club.

Conte plays down a return to Juventus

Ahead of the north London derby, Antonio Conte reacted to reports suggesting he was interested in a return to Italy soon. The Tottenham manager found the question hilarious and couldn’t hold back laughing.

On the question about the Juventus links, Conte laughed, saying it was incredible. He also posited that it was disrespectful to Massimiliano Allegri and him because he works for Tottenham.

The Italian gaffer said he has spoken on the matter many times. According to Conte, he is happy and enjoying his time in London. Conte said there is a whole season to find the best solutions for the club and him.

Conte also claims to have a great relationship with the owner [chairman Daniel Levy] and [Fabio] Paratici. He said he doesn’t see any problems in the future, as he is under a contract. He finished by saying he doesn’t want to hear anyone speaking to him about Juventus.

The Italian gaffer has a contract that expires at the end of the season, but Spurs retain an option to extend it by another year.
