Salihamidzic defends Sadio Mane after slow start to life in the Bundesliga

Sadio Mane has failed to score in the last five games for Bayern Munich. Hasaan Salihamidzic and Julian Nagelsmann believe it is a problem of adaptation but believe he could do more.

The final days of Sadio Mane at Liverpool were not happy ones. The Senegalese striker craved a love from his manager that never came. Mo Salah seemed adored more than the Senegal international. Despite the efforts to make the Anfield side the force it is today.

The famous trident of Mane, Salah and Firmino was eventually broken up, with Sadio Mane heading for Bayern Munich and Liverpool replacing him with Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez. Whether the experiment has worked out for both parties is there to be seen.

At Bayern Munich, Sadio Mane has not met the expectations of the Bavarian club, and tongues have started to wag about his suitability for the club. The expectations are high as he has come in to replace a club legend, Robert Lewandowski. The goals have not flowed, but Mane has an advocate who has defended his slow start to life at the Allianz arena.

Not working out for Sadio Mane at the Allianz Arena

It is a tough assignment to fill the massive boots of Robert Lewandowski. The Poland international is a club legend and a goal machine. He scored many goals and rewrote several records at Bayern Munich and the Bundesliga. The departure of the Polish striker left a gaping hole in the Bayern attack that they sought to fill with the signing of Sadio Mane.

Sadio Mane has not hit his stride yet, but even at the peak of his powers, he was not a goalscorer in the mould of Lewandowski. With the goals hard to come by at the Allianz Arena, Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Hasan Salihamidzic, has jumped to the defence of their new signing.

Salihamidzic claims that Sadio Mane will still come good after a slow start to life in Germany. Sadio Mane made a perfect start to life in the Bundesliga with a goal on his debut, but he has struggled to find the form that saw Liverpool sign him from Southampton.

With Sadio Mane going five games without a goal, the expectations have started dropping, but Salihamidzic claims that the 30-year-old striker needs more time to adjust to his new surroundings.

Speaking with Bild, Salihamidzic said that Sadio Mane needs a little time. He has to be used to the Bundesliga too. The former Bayern utility man believes Sadio Mane will adjust to the Bundesliga. He said he speaks with him regularly and is confident that he will eventually come good.

Salihamidzic knows what it is like to arrive at a team as a newcomer in a different country and city, with a slightly different football culture.

Salihamidzic opines the Mane is in this process but is confident that he will soon be familiar with everything at the club and will also reflect on the pitch. The sporting director believes that Mane is one of the best players in the world, and Bayern fans will get a lot of joy from him.

The manager Julian Nagelsmann shares the thoughts of the sporting director but holds a slightly different opinion on Mane. He said Mane is taking on a different role with the Bundesliga giants, but he wants to see more from the forward.
