Andre Onana Set to Join Manchester United in Record Deal

According to reports in Italy, a deal has been reached between Manchester United and Inter for the transfer of Andre Onana. The 27-year-old goalkeeper is set to undergo a medical within the next 48 hours and join United’s squad for their pre-season tour in the United States. The deal is worth over €50 million (£42.8 million) including bonuses, and personal terms have been finalized with Onana.

United’s Pursuit for a First-Choice Goalkeeper

Manchester United have been in search of a new first-choice goalkeeper after deciding not to renew David de Gea’s contract. The club has held extensive talks with Inter over a deal for Onana throughout the summer. With the agreement now in place, United will focus on signing a new striker before the end of the summer transfer window.

Onana previously played under Erik Ten Hag at Ajax, and their reunion at Manchester United is highly anticipated. Ten Hag has already spoken with Onana ahead of his move to Old Trafford, according to reports. The goalkeeper will become United’s second summer signing, following the £60 million deal for Mason Mount earlier this month.

It sees United end their long-going search for a goalkeeper and the club will now focus their attention on strengthening other areas of the pitch, notably their forward line.

Ongoing Pursuit for a Striker

Once the deal for Onana is complete, Manchester United will turn their attention to signing a new striker. Their top target is Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund, but the Serie A club has rejected all offers so far. Atalanta is demanding an £86 million fee for Hojlund.

Andre Onana’s move to Manchester United is set to break the club’s transfer record. With a deal worth over €50 million (£42.8 million) and personal terms finalized, Onana will undergo a medical within the next 48 hours. His arrival will strengthen United’s goalkeeping options, and the club will continue their pursuit of a new striker before the summer transfer window closes. In terms of an exit, Harry Maguire might be leaning towards an exit, after he was stripped off the armband as the club’s captain. Reports now claim the Englishman is set to leave the club after a torrid time since he joined the Red Devils for a world-record fee in 2019.

Still regarding Manchester United, the club has come to an agreement with Marcus Rashford regarding a new deal, with the forward now set to sign a lucrative five-year contract. The 25-year-old will be the club’s highest paid player and is expected to be named among one of the new captains ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
