Todd Boehly makes 14th signing as Noni Madueke joins the Blues in £35m deal

PSV Eindhoven star Noni Madueke has made a switch to Chelsea. The England wonderkid is the latest to join Blues as the club continues its buying spree.

The season has not gone to script for Chelsea, but the west London club is not relenting on its oars. Todd Boehly wants to ensure that the Blues return to the pinnacle of English football. The American owner has gone gung-ho in the market as he looks to bring in any player he deems worthy of the club.

Since the American billionaire took over the reins at Chelsea, the club has continued to undergo a massive uplift. Boehly has changed the coaching staff, replacing Thomas Tuchel with Graham Potter. Tuchel got the sack due to poor results, but things have not improved as Chelsea has managed just two wins from his last ten games.

Several players have arrived at Stamford Bridge this month, and Boehly does not look like relenting. He has signed another talented player Noni Madueke. The England wonderkid joins from the Dutch side PSV Eindhoven.

Noni Madueke is the latest Chelsea signing

When will Todd Boehly drop the chequebook? The American owner is bent on turning Chelsea into a force to be feared in England and Europe. Many believe Boehly’s action is like buying a Ferrari and handing the keys to a go-kart driver.

Enamoured by whatever shines, the latest acquisition is Noni Madueke. The England under-21 international will travel to the UK to complete a move from PSV to Chelsea. Madueke joins Chelsea in a £35 million deal making him the 14th signing of the Todd Boehly era. It brings the spending by the club under the American to well over £400 million.

The Blues chairman is not holding back and is eyeing more acquisitions. There are rumours that he wanted to hijack Arsenal’s pursuit of Brighton forward Leandro Trossard. Rumours suggest the move failed after Romelu Lukaku advised his national team colleague to drop the idea of joining Chelsea, as he would regret it.

The deal for Madueke is not yet complete. Regardless of the situation, Madueke would sign for the Blues imminently.

Madueke: a decent capture for Chelsea

Chelsea have been relentless in the transfer market. The Blues have been bold this January. They have already signed Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid on loan till the end of the season. They also hijacked Arsenal’s deal for Mykhaylo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk. Other players that have arrived in the January transfer window include David Datro Fofana, Andrey Santos and Benoit Badiashile.

Madueke should instantly impact the team to improve the fortunes of Chelsea. He follows Cody Gakpo out of PSV for the Premier League.

Madueke is a winger who can also play as a striker. He spent time in Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur’s academies before joining PSV aged 16 in 2018.

Madueke scored 20 goals and provided 14 assists in 80 first-team appearances for the Dutch giants. Injury disrupted this season for the Nigerian-born English youth international. An ankle injury ruled him out for the opening three months of the term and caused Madueke to miss 18 matches in total.
