Real Madrid make decision on new signing after David Alaba injury

Real Madrid have a defensive conundrum following two severe injury blows during yesterday’s 4-1 victory over Villarreal. Los Blancos’ victory over El Submarino Amarillo was short lived as they had their sights on dealing with two additional injuries.

Ferland Mendy’s injury doesn’t appear to be serious given that he will be sidelined for a few weeks. However, David Alaba’s injury is particularly troubling because the Austrian defender tore his ACL, ending his season prematurely and potentially preventing him from competing in the 2024 Euros.

Several reports have indicated that Real Madrid will be making changes in that area because to the latest injury issue, as Alaba joins Eder Militao on the ACL injury list. Names like Antonio Silva, Goncalo Inacio, Rafa Marin, and even Raphael Varane have been mentioned.

However, according to a report by Jose Felix Diaz, Madrid has decided that they will not be adding a centre back during the upcoming transfer window to replace any of its injured players.

Despite Madrid’s squad currently has a thin squad, especially in both attack and defence. They feel that investing a lot of money during the winter transfer window does not reflect what the team needs and could lead to hasty or subpar acquisitions, so they have maintained to their attitude.

They tend to hold on their policies and wont go into the transfer market to sign a centre-back. In terms of reinforcement they already got their sight on a new left back, which was proposed as priority for a change in the summer.

When needed, Nacho and Antonio Rudiger are more than willing to contribute to the centre defensive.

Even though, the latter has played an obscene amount of minutes this season already, and may end up on the sidelines if things are not handled correctly.

Carlo Ancelottl has previously suggested that Aurelien Tchouameni have the ability to play in that position, and Daniel Carvajal can also slot in there if necessary.

Similar to how Nico Paz has improved midfield, Castilla players, such as Alvaro Corrilla, who has been called up for quite a few games this season, may also be counted on.
