Pimenta claims the first £1 billion player could be Erling Haaland

The representative to Erling Haaland, Rafaela Pimenta, claimed the Norwegian international could be the first £1 billion player.

She refused to talk about suggestions of a clause in the contract signed by Haaland in the summer.

The Premier League has long claimed to be the toughest in the world, but nobody sent the memo to Erling Haaland. The former Borussia Dortmund striker is tearing the record books in England and making mincemeat of defenders in the league. Haaland currently sits atop the Premier League top scorers chart.

The Norwegian bomber is a recognized and proven goalscorer, but no one thought he would take the league by the scruff of the neck in the way he has done. He has only failed to score against two teams this term, and the blanks have come in three matches, including the Community Shield.

There have been talks concerning a clause in the contract of the Norwegian striker that suggests he would be allowed to leave Manchester City for a certain fee. The clause is said to take effect in 2024, but the Citizens have denied it. However, Erling Haaland’s agent has claimed the Manchester City striker could become the first £1 billion player.

The £1 billion man
Manchester City have a gem in their hands in Erling Haaland, and he could make a difference for the Citizens as they strive to win their first-ever Champions League title. It has been a case of near misses for the Manchester side – second on the Premier League table behind Arsenal.

Following his early season start, discussions have centred around how many goals he would score this season. Haaland arrived at the Etihad from Borussia Dortmund for his release clause, which according to ESPN, was worth €60 million.

Pimenta believes Haaland could break the £1 billion barrier for a signing.

According to Pimenta, putting together his football, image, and sponsor value, it is for sure £1 billion. Pimenta made this claim when speaking with Sky Sports about the transfer fee required to sign the striker.

Not letting much out of the bag
Haaland has started life in England in phenomenal form. The Norwegian striker has scored 20 goals in 14 appearances across all competitions for City this campaign. Haaland has confounded many naysayers with his fantastic start to the season, suggesting he could beat the 50-goal mark.

Pimenta is so confident of the worth of Haaland that she has subtly suggested that the Manchester City striker could be more valuable than Kylian Mbappe. She said it is not unusual to compare Erling with Mbappe to have a fair idea of the market. She believes that Haaland would be the first player to achieve a transfer of around £1 billion.

Pep Guardiola had earlier rebuffed reports that claimed Haaland had a clause in his contract that allows him to join the 2021/22 Champions League winners Real Madrid in 2024.

Pimenta responded to a question about the reports of the in-contract clause, saying the good and bad of being a lawyer is that you know what you cannot say.

Pimenta also said she hopes discussions over a new contract for her client to remain at the Etihad stadium would soon occur.
