Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2025-26 season. Ortega, 31, originally joined City in 2022 from German club Arminia Bielefeld.
Premier League and FA Cup contributions
In the previous season, Ortega made nine appearances in the Premier League. His notable performance includes starting in the FA Cup final, where City faced a defeat by Manchester United.
Commitment and growth
Expressing his happiness about the extension, Ortega stated, “I am delighted to be staying at Manchester City for longer. This club provides players with everything we need to be our best. Every single day I feel motivated and challenged, and I have improved as a goalkeeper since coming here two years ago.”
City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, praised Ortega’s abilities, describing him as “the best number two goalkeeper we’ve ever had.”
