Manchester City table official £90m offer for Declan Rice

Manchester City have reportedly made a bid for West Ham United’s captain Declan Rice in the ongoing summer transfer window. According to various reports, the Premier League champions have placed an offer of around £90m for the midfielder. However, the Hammers still want £100m for their star player.

Rice has been considered as one of the most consistent performers in the Premier League over the past few seasons and has been linked with a move to Manchester City for quite some time. The 22-year-old played a key role in guiding West Ham to European qualification last season.

Manchester City’s Formal Bid

Reportedly, Manchester City have made a £90 million offer for Declan Rice, which is higher than the £70-80 million that was previously reported. The Premier League Champions are in the market for a midfielder this summer, and Rice’s ability to play as a center-back if required makes him a more attractive target.

Pep Guardiola is known to place a high value on versatility in his players, and Rice’s ability to play in multiple positions could be advantageous for Manchester City, especially with a busy fixture list ahead of them next season.

West Ham’s Stance

As of now, West Ham United’s stance on the situation remains unclear. It is believed that the club are open to selling Rice, who signed a five-year contract in December 2020.

Furthermore, the Hammers have already rejected two offers from Arsenal this summer for the midfielder. However, with City reportedly offering a better structure in terms of payments, it will be interesting to see how the London-based club approaches the situation this time around.

The Potential Move

Declan Rice has been linked with a move to Manchester City for a while now, and the midfielder has expressed his desire to play in the Champions League.

If a move to Manchester City materializes, Rice would be joining one of the best squads in Europe and could play a key role in their bid for domestic and continental success. Furthermore, a move to the Etihad Stadium would offer the Englishman the chance to learn and grow under one of the world’s best managers, Pep Guardiola.

While Rice has been an important figure for West Ham, a move to a bigger club like Manchester City could provide him with the opportunity to take his game to the next level and compete for major honors.

Undoubtedly, a move to Manchester City would be a major step in Declan Rice’s career, and the midfielder could become one of the most valuable players in the world under the guidance of Pep Guardiola.

However, the deal is still far from being completed, given West Ham’s reluctance to sell and their previous rejection of a £90 million bid from Arsenal.

It remains to be seen how West Ham approaches the situation this time around, but if Manchester City secures Rice’s signature, it would be a major boost to their chances of defending the Premier League and winning the Champions League once again next season.
