Manchester United under INEOS have been moving with great speed in the summer transfer window and have reached an agreement to bring in a third player.
The club first signed Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and followed it up with a hijack of Real Madrid’s signing of Leny Yoro from LOSC Lille in France. They continue to look for other signings including fullbacks, midfielders and a winger as exits are expected to happen in these areas of the pitch.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is expected to leave the club soon with both West Ham United and Inter Milan in the picture. It was reported recently that the former Crystal Palace man turned down the chance to join the Hammers because he preferred a move to Italy instead. It was also reported that United were in talks over a swap deal with Inter for Denzel Dumfries. There has been no traction on either story in recent times, but the one story that has received a lot of traction is their interest in Bayern Munich fullback Noussair Mazraoui.
That deal looks to be done according to reports, which means United could be unveiling a third signing before the Premier League starts. This would be an unprecedented moment in the club’s post-Ferguson era.
GiveMeSport reports that the Moroccan defender has agreed a six-year deal with the Red Devils, with the only thing standing in his way of joining the club for pre-season now being the talks over his transfer fee between United and Bayern.
The Guardian puts the fee at somewhere between £15 million and £20 million for the 26-year-old who played under ten Hag at Ajax and was teammates with Antony, who the Dutchman believes will benefit greatly from having Maraoui in the same side with him once again.
Wan Bissaka’s move remains key to this deal’s completion. Once United can find a club for him – most credible sources say he will end up at West Ham – Mazraoui will be announced.
The Moroccan could also be joined by Matthijs De Ligt who is reportedly waiting for United’s official approach. Both players were teammates at Ajax and Bayern and share the same agent. Transfer journalist, Fabrizio Romano, made this declaration in an interview.
“I wanted to finish by mentioning one thing. You know that the agent of Mazraoui is Rafaela Pimenta, a really important agent. Rafaela Pimenta is also the agent of Matthijs de Ligt. Man United reached an agreement with Matthijs de Ligt in June on personal terms,” he said.
“I can tell you that during the meetings they had with the agent of Mazraoui to discuss about the contract of Mazraoui, Man United also received confirmation in recent days from Matthijs de Ligt about his plan, despite one month passing, De Ligt is still waiting for Man United. De Ligt wants to go to Manchester United. De Ligt confirms the agreement on personal terms with Man United.”
