Manchester United was a wreck before the arrival of Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford. Not much has improved, but the team seems to be different from what it used to be. Under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer and backed by a hypocritical class of 92, United was a joke and the butt of many jokes in the game.

The support for Solksjaer meant that several average players were running amok at the club, with the team playing without a discernable pattern. They were hardly different from a team in a Sunday morning game at the Park. With mixed results, the occasional wins and lack of consistency by other teams gave fodder to Ole backers.

The relationship with the fans was mixed, with several calling for the departure of the Glazers, while another section backed the team, despite its mediocre performances. Erik Ten Hag believes he is succeeding in fixing the relationship between the fans and the team, though they are still struggling to get back to the top.
