Cole Palmer had a field day last night as the Chelsea’s number 20 scored four goals in the Premier League to beat Everton 6-0 at Stamford Bridge, giving him his 20th Premier League goal.
The in-form English forward scored three goals in as many minutes (29) – the fastest in the Premier League for the Blues – after combining with Nicolas Jackson to get first goal, heading in the second, and chipping Jordan Pickford from long range for the third.
Jackson, who set up the first goal, made sure to put his name on the scoreboard by smashing home a goal right before halftime to give Chelsea a four-goal advantage going into the locker room.
Palmer scored his fourth of the night from the penalty spot in the second half, becoming the first Chelsea player to do so since Frank Lampard in March 2010. Alfie Gilchrist then wrapped it up late in the game to score his first goal for the blues making it six goals without a response.
Palmer was delighted with the result and his contribution, particularly pleased to help his side get back to winning ways after a draw last time out on the road.
Palmer was happy with the scoreline and his contribution, especially since it allowed his team to win again after their previous road trip which ended in a draw.
Palmer buzzing after latest hatrickt against Everton
“It all happened so fast in the first 30 minutes,” Palmer opened.
“We started well and to score a hat-trick, I’m buzzing. I think the team needed that after last Sunday and some previous games. We did well tonight. It was a great game for the team and me.”
“We needed to come out and show something and I think from the first minute we showed what we could do. It was a good performance tonight. We’re really happy with the win.
“To make the decision to come to Chelsea was a big one for me and my family, but I just wanted to play football. I’m thankful to Chelsea for the opportunity and I’m buzzing.”
The 21-year-old responded to a question about which of the four goals was his favourite.
“I think my first one was my favourite,” he replied. “My right-footed goal was a bit of a swinger, but my first one was probably my favourite. As an attacker, you always want to help the team with goals and assists, but my main focus was playing well and trying to get into the positions to score goals.”
Cole Palmer did not let his impressive performance get in the way of another crucial game, which is the FA Cup semi-final matchup against Manchester City on Saturday.
“This season has been a bit inconsistent for us,” Palmer said.
“We have had some poor performances, but then again we have battled with the big sides, done well and got some good wins. We need to take each game as it comes and see where we finish.”
Finally, the winger also saved deserved praise for his teammate Gilchrist. Lastly, the winger gave well-earned credit to his teammate Gilchrist.
“Everyone was buzzing for him,” Cole added. “Obviously, he has been at Chelsea for his whole life. He has trained with us and put 100 per cent in every day.”
