Chelsea striker facing an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge

Nicolas Jackson’s position at Chelsea has been thrown into major doubt following his latest action.

According to a report from Sky Sports, the striker’s long-term future at the club is uncertain, so many clubs want to sign a striker this summer, and his name has been mentioned.

The Senegalese forward, who came on as a second-half substitute, was sent off in Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat to Flamengo at the FIFA Club World Cup on Friday.

The red card, his second in four club games following his dismissal against Newcastle in the Premier League last month, has put his long-term future in doubt, even with the arrival of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town.

Jackson – wanted by clubs in Europe and Saudi Arabia

Sky in Italy are saying that Juventus are interested in signing Nicolas Jackson this summer. In addition, he also has interest from three Premier League clubs and some clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Jackson, who scored 13 goals in 36 games in all competitions last season, may be too expensive for a number of the suitors due to his transfer fee and wages.

Jackson joined the Blues from Villarreal in 2023 for £30m, and just last summer, he signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2033.

Apart from Jackson, Delap is the other striker trusted by Enzo Maresca, and the former Leicester City coach is keen to have at least two senior strikers, making the Senegalese unavailable on the transfer market.

As a result of his red card, Jackson will miss Chelsea’s last group game against Esperance on Wednesday at the FIFA Club World Cup.

He is also due to miss the opening game of the 2025-26 Premier League season following his dismissal at Newcastle last season.

Given the latest happenings around the striker, summer signing Liam Delap could use the opportunity to cement his place in the number 9 role.

Meanwhile, Jackson took to Instagram to apologize for his red card against Flamengo, saying: “I want to say sorry. To the club, the staff, my teammates, and all the fans watching, I let you down.”

“Another red card… And honestly, I’m so angry at myself. I work hard every day to help the team not to put us in this kind of situation.”

“I still don’t fully understand how it happened. But one thing is clear: it wasn’t intentional. Just a moment in football that went the wrong way.”

“No excuses. I take full responsibility. I’ll reflect, I’ll grow, and I’ll come back stronger for the badge and for everyone who believes in me.”

“Sorry. Sorry, Sorry.”
