Calvert-Lewin not interested by Arsenal of Newcastle offers, Lampard claims

Everton front man Dominic Calvert-Lewin is uninterested by the offers from Arsenal and Newcastle, according to his manager Frank Lampard.

The 25-year-old has been with the Toffees since 2016, signing for £1.5 million from Sheffield United. After a slow start to his Everton career, he picked up and became one of their most important players in the past two seasons.

Injuries have kept him out of action for most of this season, however, and his form took a while to return any time he was declared fit to play. The club has struggled this season without him as a result, showing how important he is to the team.

The striker has played only 542 minutes for Everton since February. His appearance against relegated Watford was his first since April 9. Still, he is the subject of interest from Newcastle United – who are linked to everybody – and Arsenal ahead of a very busy summer window which begins in a few weeks.

But Everton manager Lampard, who took over at Goodison Park on the last day of the 2021/22 season January transfer window, has stated that his key man is only concerned about Everton. Lampard also stated that the club will open talks with Calvert-Lewin at the end of the season, as their focus remains Premier League survival.

Calvert-Lewin will help us take the club forward, Lampard declares

The former Chelsea boss also reiterated how important Calvert-Lewin – who has three years left of his Everton contract – is to the team. He also noted that the player has been getting fit and is now ready to start the remaining games in their fight for survival.

Lampard said in his pre-match press conference before their meeting with Brentford which could seal their fate ahead of next season: “He is a fantastic striker, the pedigree of striker that there aren’t many around. It’s been unfortunate for me, I think, that I haven’t had him fit.

“He’s had little moments but we know that strikers – particularly out of any position – need runs of games and fitness and confidence. We’ve never been able to get that for Dominic to be fair to him. But yeah, he’s a huge player, they are not very common.

“He is contracted to us, three years left on his contract, and I want to take this club forward and players like Dominic help that.

“I know he hasn’t been playing at the minute because he’s been getting fit, but now he’s fit, so hopefully he will contribute in the last few games for starters and then he’s our player.

“He’s a player that would be wanted by clubs because of the level of player he is. There are not many strikers out there, they cost a lot of money. I’m not worried about him at all.”
