Bayern Sporting Director: We can Repair Relationship with Lewandowski and Keep the Player

The Sporting director of the Bavarian club has reiterated his and the club’s desire to keep the 33 year old Polish striker amid reports that there is an irreparable strain in the relationship between player and club.

The Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic in an interview stated that the current fracture in the relationship with the hitman is still “fixable” and that the club has the ability to convince the Polish international to stick with the current project at the club. This comes as reports have long surfaced of the Pole having strong disagreements with the Manager and the executives of the club.

Lewandowski has kept no secret of his desire to leave the club this summer, favoring Catalonia as his preferred destination. However, Bayern has openly and secretly told the player that they will not be allowing him to move from the club and the club has rejected all offers from Barca so far.

Barcelona have made a bid of just over 35 million euros with an extra 5 million in add-ons, but the German club did not take too long in dismissing the offer.

In an interview with Sky sports Germany, Hasan Salihamidzic reiterated his desire to keep the player at the club and also insisted that the issues with the players can be fixed.

The Club Expects Lewandowski to resume Next Month

So far it’s 100% [certain that he stays],” Salihamidzic said. “July 12 is his first day at work, so I’m expecting him.

“I’m not dealing with it now because we’ve had other things to do. I think it’s calmed down a little now, but we still have a lot to do.”

He continued: “I think we had a very good conversation [with Lewandowski’s agent]. It’s true, I was there. Oliver Kahn was there too, we talked, each side explained their position, but we also talked about the details which I won’t reveal. But it was a good conversation.

“I’m convinced [Lewandowski will stay]. He’s a professional and he has big goals in his career. That’s why it’s fixable” the club chief stated.

The club chief was further pressed if there was a price which the club might agree to do business.

“I don’t know,” he laughed. “I never deal with things that are in the air right now. I can only repeat again: He has an employment contract until 2023. July 12, welcome to Munich. He will be there for the first training session – at least, I expect him to be”, Salihamidzic added.
