Bayer Leverkusen secure highly-rated talent Kennet Eichhorn

Bayer Leverkusen has announced the acquisition of promising midfielder Kennet Eichhorn from Hertha BSC. The Bundesliga side confirmed the deal on Wednesday evening after overcoming interest from a number of clubs, among them RB Leipzig and Liverpool, to bring the 16-year-old to the BayArena.

The arrival of Eichhorn is viewed as another investment in the club’s future, with Leverkusen securing one of Germany’s most highly regarded young talents.

Long-term contact helped seal the agreement

Managing director for sport Simon Rolfes revealed that the club’s pursuit of Eichhorn was not a recent development. According to Rolfes, Leverkusen had already established close communication with the player and his family a year earlier, creating a strong relationship that continued throughout the negotiations.

Rolfes explained that the discussions this year reflected the same level of trust and understanding. He stated that both the club and the teenager shared the belief that Bayer Leverkusen provides the ideal environment for his progression toward becoming a leading Bundesliga player.

Coaching staff played important role

Rolfes also pointed to the involvement of head coach Carles Martínez as a key factor in the process. He noted that conversations with the coach were marked by a common footballing vision and mutual confidence.

The sporting director expressed his satisfaction at completing the transfer, describing Eichhorn as one of the standout young German prospects and welcoming him into the club’s ranks.

Speaking after the move was confirmed, Eichhorn said that positive discussions convinced him that Leverkusen represented the right destination for the next stage of his career. He highlighted the club’s reputation for helping players, including very young talents, make rapid progress and establish themselves at the highest level.

The defensive midfielder added that he intends to work as hard as possible to follow a similar route. He also spoke of his excitement about continuing his development at what he described as an ambitious European club and looked forward to beginning the next chapter of his career with Bayer Leverkusen.
