Sterling could be open to Man United move

Raheem Sterling has been informed that his time at Chelsea is over as he isn’t in the plans of the new manager Enzo Maresca for the season.

The England winger has been linked to a move to Manchester United in recent hours, and is said to be considering the switch to the other side of Manchester where he played for several years.

Sterling and Chelsea are set to sit down and iron out a solid solution to his situation in the coming days, with his contract still lasting for the next three years and a £300,000 per week hefty salary.

The 29-year-old’s deal with the Blues guarantees him about £40 million over the next three seasons so he is likely to sacrifice millions in its tenth decimals of pounds if he were to move out of Stamford Bridge, except there is a club ready to match his current wages and contract length.

Sterling has also been reported to be keen on transferring out of Stamford Bridge on a permanent basis, after Maresca one-on-one session breaking the news he was no longer wanted by the club.

Discussions will circle around Sterling’s personal terms, which is the significant aspect of his Chelsea exit, only after all issues are resolved the winger will hold formal negotiations with interested parties.

Chelsea are also hoping to make a last ditch at Jadon Sancho from Man united in a swap deal involving Sterling according to Telegraph Sports.

Sterling could be open to Man United move

The former Man City player would not rule out a move to Old Trafford, as he was a huge supporter of the club as a child. Although it remains to be seen if such an offer will happen before the transfer window shuts at the end of this week.

Following an interview with the Daily Mirror in 2019, Sterling said: “I shouldn’t really say this – not now, definitely not now – but when I was young I was a massive United fan. I had an old United kit, from when they won the last FA Cup. I was at the final in 2007.”

Sterling played for City for seven years, winning four Premier League titles, after joining from Liverpool in 2015, Before transferring to Chelsea for £47.5 million in 2022.

He was abruptly dropped from Chelsea’s first team in recent weeks, losing his squad number to newly recruit Pedro Neto. Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca later confirmed that he prefers “different kinds of wingers”.

Sterling’s future is unclear as Chelsea attempts to get Victor Osimhen. On Monday, their hopes were raised when the Napoli striker’s agent appeared to rule out the prospect of him relocating to Saudi Arabia.

Roberto Calenda, his agent, said: “Osimhen is a Napoli player, with a contract recently renewed with mutual satisfaction. He made history and when there were major offers (also this year) we always accepted the club’s decisions.”

“He is not a package to be shipped far away to make room for new prophets. Victor was elected African footballer of the year, eighth at the Ballon d’Or, he still has so much to do in Europe. There is need [for] respect and balance.”
