Chelsea have completed the signing of Pedro Neto from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a deal worth £54 million. The 24-year-old Portuguese forward has penned a seven-year contract, keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2031.

Neto was introduced to Chelsea fans at halftime during the club’s friendly match against Inter Milan on Sunday. Speaking about his move, Neto expressed his excitement and gratitude, saying, “I am incredibly thankful to have joined this team. I’ve worked tirelessly throughout my career to reach this point, and I’m eager to take the field wearing these colors.”

Record Transfer for Wolves

The Blues reached an agreement with Wolves on Friday, following two previous bids that were turned down. Chelsea will pay an initial sum of £51.3 million, with an additional £2.6 million in potential bonuses. This transfer marks a record sale for Wolves, surpassing the £47 million fee they received for Ruben Neves from Al-Hilal in 2023.

Neto, who moved to Wolves from Lazio in 2019, netted 14 goals in 135 appearances during his time in the west Midlands. His departure signals a significant moment for Wolves as they part ways with one of their key players.

Chelsea’s Summer Spending Continues

Neto’s arrival brings Chelsea’s total summer expenditure to around £185 million. The club has already secured the services of several players, including midfielders Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Veiga, and Omari Kellyman, goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, defenders Tosin Adarabioyo, Aaron Anselmino, and Caleb Wiley, winger Estevao Willian, and striker Marc Guiu.

Chelsea’s transfer activity shows no signs of slowing down, as the club continues to pursue additional targets. Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion and Genk goalkeeper Mike Penders are reportedly next on the club’s radar, as they look to finalize their squad ahead of the upcoming season. With Neto now in their ranks, Chelsea are set to strengthen their attacking options, aiming to compete on multiple fronts in the 2024/25 campaign.
