Dovbyk Stays at Girona, Snubbing Serie A Moves

Artem Dovbyk, a 27-year-old Ukrainian international, has chosen to remain with Girona FC for the next season, turning down interest from several high-profile clubs. Milan, Roma, and Napoli, all searching for a new leading striker, had shown significant interest in Dovbyk. Additionally, Atletico Madrid and West Ham United were also keen on acquiring his services. Dovbyk’s decision comes after a remarkable debut season in LaLiga, where he scored 24 goals and provided eight assists in 36 games. Despite the potential for a sale nearing €40 million, Dovbyk has communicated to his agents his desire to stay at Girona for at least one more season, as reported by Diario AS.

Serie A Clubs’ Striker Hunt

With Dovbyk off the market, Milan, Roma, and Napoli are left to continue their search for a center-forward. These clubs have been actively pursuing a new striker to bolster their squads for the upcoming season. The Ukrainian’s impressive performance last season made him an appealing target, but his decision to stay with Girona means these clubs must look elsewhere. The Serie A sides have frequently found themselves linked with the same attacking prospects, highlighting the competitive nature of the transfer market for top strikers.

Milan’s Ongoing Search

Milan, in particular, remains focused on securing a new striker and has several options still in consideration. One of the primary targets is Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee, though negotiations are complicated by issues surrounding commission fees, with Manchester United also expressing interest. Another potential candidate is Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid, who brings experience and a proven goal-scoring record. Additionally, Romelu Lukaku, currently sidelined at Chelsea, is another name being considered by the Rossoneri. As Milan continues its efforts, the club is evaluating these options to find the right fit for their forward line.
