Brendan Rodgers prepares to receive January bids for James Maddison

James Maddison has been the star performer for Leicester City this season and may be the butt of bids this January.  The Foxes rejected two bids from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.

Leicester City are in a crisis this season. The Foxes are languishing in the relegation zone with the sack hammer dangling over its manager Brendan Rodgers. Leicester City moved up from the bottom position following its victory over Nottingham Forest last weekend. The win is supposed to propel them into finding their rhythm. It was their first win of the season, and they now sit 19th on the table with the same points as Nottingham Forest.

Can things improve for Leicester City? Brendan Rodgers believes he is the right man to pull them out of the mire. He takes his Foxes to Bournemouth this weekend, searching for another valuable three points to inch them closer to safety. The task before Rodgers is arduous and not helped by the loss of Wesley Fofana to Chelsea this summer.

While Rodgers is mulling over the loss of Fofana in the summer, the Scotsman is also worried about James Maddison. The Englishman is the shining light for the Foxes this season, and Rodgers is concerned that bids would arrive in January Maddison.

Rodgers knows Maddison will attract January bids

Despite the poor form of Leicester City this season, one player in the team has covered himself in gold. James Maddison has performed at a level that questions why Gareth Southgate has not considered him for the Three Lions. He has practically carried the Foxes on his shoulders this season.

Brendan Rodgers knows Maddison is in top form and will attract interest. It is not like there have not been inquiries about Maddison, but Rodgers is bracing up for more bids in the January transfer window.

During the summer, two offers arrived for Maddison, which the Foxes turned down. Both bids came from Newcastle, and his superb start to the campaign will only ensure more interest in the player. James Maddison (25) has scored five goals and provided two assists in his opening seven league games. It is not a shabby output by the midfielder. It makes him one of the top performers in the league this season.

Rodgers tips Maddison for the England squad.

James Maddison has only one cap for England, and it is a shock for Rodgers that a player of his quality is not a regular feature for the Three Lions. Rodgers opines that Maddison should be allowed to add to his single international cap. With the World Cup around the corner, England needs its best legs, especially as they have not been performing well recently.

Maddison is unsure of his future at Leicester City. The England international has a contract that expires at the end of next season, and a new contract is far from being signed. The situation Maddison finds himself in means there will be interest in his services.

Brendan Rodgers is preparing for the arrival of the bids. The Scotsman said his job is to coach Maddison and make him a better player. According to Rodgers, it is only natural to want your best players to stay at the club, but Leicester City keeps losing its best legs. He opines that Maddison is not the player you want to lose.
