Chelsea owner Todd Boehly approves improvements to Stamford Bridge

There will be new decorative improvements at Stamford Bridge, a report has revealed. The upgrade will create a greater sense of belonging for the club supporters.

Chelsea are not letting up, with the new owner keen to strengthen the brand. They may not be where they want to be, but the club is inching towards that goal.

The new owner of the club Todd Boehly, is personally overseeing the improvements at the club and is behind most of the new branding at the club. The Blues do not have the appeal of a Manchester City or Liverpool but have stamped their name in the game with positive results since the takeover by Roman Abramovich.

While the quest for positive on-the-field results continues and the search for players that can get those results, Chelsea are looking to make their stadium a place fans and tourists find enjoyable. Todd Boehly is about to invest in the general outlook of Stamford Bridge. The American owner believes the current look of the stadium is not befitting of a two-time Champions League winning club.

Boehly to upgrade Stamford Bridge

With a new season, comes a new target. An upgrade to Stamford Bridge is in the works but centred around improving its appearance. The Telegraph reports that the improvements will see the renovation of the West Stand. There will be new murals around the stadium. Todd Boehly is excited about where he wants to take Chelsea and seems invested in making the Blues a top global brand.

For the Boehly-Clearlake consortium, the fans are the attraction, and since they finalized the takeover of Chelsea in May, the work has moved towards giving them a solid experience. They are eager to build for the supporters a greater sense of belonging. They also want the club identity spelt out around the stadium.

The plans for Stamford Bridge

The plans for Stamford Bridge may not be out of this world, but they are little knick-knacks that should create a worthy and enjoyable experience at the stadium. The upgrade to the stadium includes a bigger club crest on the West Stand. It will also have illuminated letters that spell Chelsea FC.

The area behind the Shed End will be part of the upgrade. It will have a new mural that includes words from fan chants. The developments also leave room for changes to Fulham Broadway. It is the only point that accesses the ground.

The West Stand and the Shed End will also have new LED screens on the outside. There will also be banners showing all the trophies Chelsea has won.

Stamford Bridge has a capacity of 40,341, but there are no immediate plans to increase it. Former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich had received planning permissions for a new 60,000-capacity stadium. The project, with a cost of over £2 billion, seems to have gone with the wind.

The project is now the baby of executive Janet Marie Smith, who has worked on the renovation of several US sports venues, including the Dodger Stadium.
