Wolverhampton Wanderers have secured the arrival of Jackson Tchatchoua from Hellas Verona in a deal worth €12.5m (£10.8m). The defender has agreed to a five-year contract with the Premier League side.
The Cameroon international, who is capable of playing at full-back or as a wing-back, moves to England after a strong season in Italy’s top division.
Record-breaking pace
Tchatchoua was recognized as the quickest player in Serie A last term, recording an average maximum speed of 34.88 km/h. Wolves also highlighted that he clocked a top sprint of 36.3 km/h during the campaign.
For comparison, Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven was the fastest player in the English top flight in 2024-25, hitting 37.1 km/h, while also holding the all-time league mark of 37.38 km/h.
Career path and impact
Born in Belgium, Tchatchoua came through at Charleroi before heading to Verona, initially on loan. He later joined the Italian side on a permanent deal in 2024.
During the previous season, he contributed two goals and three assists across 37 matches.
His switch makes him Wolves’ fifth new addition of the summer. The club has already brought in Jorgen Strand Larsen on a £23m permanent transfer, Fer Lopez for £19m, Jhon Arias for £15m and David Moller Wolfe for £10m.
