Vinicius targets more Champions League with Real Madrid

Having enjoyed a stellar campaign for Real Madrid last term, Vinicius Jnr has seen his stock rise in exponential amounts. The Brazilian bagged 22 goals and recorded 16 assists in 38 appearances for Blancos in the 2021/22 campaign, making it his most prolific since he joined the club in 2017.

Of those 22 strikes, his most important came in Paris, where he scored the only goal that handed Real Madrid a 1-0 victory in the Champions League final against Liverpool.

Ahead of another chance to claim silverware, Vinicius is fired up for the big occasion and has revealed his desire to win many more titles with the Spanish giants. The 22-year-old is one of the main focuses of the cameras and the spotlight at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki ahead of Wednesday’s European Super Cup clash against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Vinicius hungry for more success

Speaking ahead of the Super Cup, Vinicius was in a positive mood and categorically stated that his side were all out to win.

“It’s very important to try to win as many games as possible, especially if you want to win in competitions as important as the Super Cup,” the Brazilian told UEFA.

“We will do everything we can to achieve the first silverware that comes along in the season.”

The Brazilian added, saying that such a winners’ mentality is what feeds into Real Madrid’s mentality.

“It’s right in the DNA of this club and this shirt: to always go out for the important games, players who know how to face those days,” he said.

“That was the key last season. Some games were emotional rollercoasters where everything seemed to go our way.

“The game against City at the Bernabeu [was his favourite moment]. In two minutes Rodrygo came on and scored two goals that took us to the final.

“The most important moment of the competition, I think, was that one.”

Vinicius admitted that he soaked up the euphoria of scoring the goal in the Champions League final and winning the competition as much as possible. The Champions League is perhaps one of the most difficult titles to win in football and the Brazillian admits he does not know when he would experience another similar situation in his career.

“It was a very important moment for us, for me, for the whole team,” he confessed.

“After a great season, we had to finish it with a victory in the final.

“I always say that I have about 15 years left in my career and I don’t know when my next final will be. That’s why I had to enjoy it to the full.

“Scoring the winning goal was a unique feeling. There is not much to say, to write about, to talk about what it feels like”
