Vanoli Highlights Adams Ahead of Inter Showdown

Ahead of their Serie A fixture against Inter Milan, Paolo Vanoli expressed confidence in his squad, especially highlighting Scotland international Ché Adams for his contributions this season. The Granata, who led the table last week, are facing a challenging period following back-to-back defeats to Empoli in the Coppa Italia and Lazio in the league.

“An Important Match in Many Ways”

Vanoli acknowledged the significance of the upcoming game, emphasizing the importance of responding positively during tough times. “We are aware that it’s not an ideal moment for us, but it’s also a chance to learn and bounce back,” he shared during the pre-match press conference. Vanoli noted that setbacks are natural in a team’s growth process and urged his players to maintain their focus against a top side. “Facing a team like Inter demands balance, bravery, and character. We aim to make an impact,” he added.

Adams and Sanabria Compete for Starting Spot

Ché Adams, who has four goals in eight appearances this season, remains in contention for a starting role alongside Antonio Sanabria. Vanoli praised Adams’ team-first mentality and contributions, saying, “Adams has been essential, always putting his quality to good use for the team.” Sanabria, who recently scored in Verona, and Adams, who netted after coming off the bench against Lazio, have both shown the drive Vanoli values. “I hope my forwards continue to perform at a high level, even if it makes my choices difficult,” he added.

Defensive Analysis and Starting XI Dilemmas

While preparing for the match, Vanoli reflected on the team’s recent defensive lapses. Of the 49 chances they have allowed, 16 originated from transitional moments, with three resulting in goals. “I’ve reviewed our mistakes carefully,” he said, mentioning his analysis of the Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter as a study in handling counter-attacks effectively.

Vanoli, who will serve a suspension during the Inter match, admitted he hasn’t finalized the lineup. “If I had no doubts, I’d need 13 starters,” he joked, clarifying that he always announces the starting XI in the dressing room before games.
