Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has confirmed that he has spoken to Paulo Dybala regarding a potential move to Stamford Bridge this summer. Silva believes that Dybala would be a “massive signing” for the West London outfit.
Reports in Italy have linked Chelsea with Dybala, who has a release clause in his Roma contract allowing him to join teams outside of Serie A for just €12 million (£10 million). Mauricio Pochettino, a big fan of his compatriot, has previously tried to sign Dybala at both Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain.
Dybala’s uncertain future at Roma
Dybala was recently on holiday in England and attended major sporting events, including meeting Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon and watching the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Silva, who was also at the Formula 1 race, revealed that he bumped into Dybala and encouraged him to make the move to Chelsea. Silva described Dybala as a world-class player and expressed his excitement about the potential signing.
Silva briefly mentioned the possibility of Christian Pulisic moving to AC Milan, saying that Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek would do well at the club. However, the focus remains on Dybala’s potential transfer to Chelsea. A Chelsea fan managed to take a picture with Dybala at Silverstone and asked him about joining the Blues, but Dybala did not give a response.
Dybala had a strong season, despite being disrupted by injury. He scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 26 Serie A appearances and scored five goals in the Europa League. Jose Mourinho, Dybala’s current coach at Roma, responded to the speculation surrounding Dybala by stating that he doesn’t know anything about his contract but talks to Dybala like he does with all of his players.
While Chelsea have already made some signings this summer, including Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku, they were one of the lowest-scoring teams in the Premier League last season, averaging only one goal per game. Pochettino is keen to add more firepower to his squad and sees Dybala as a potential solution.
Thiago Silva’s revelation about his conversation with Paulo Dybala has sparked excitement among Chelsea fans. The potential signing of Dybala would be a significant boost to Chelsea’s attacking prowess, as the team aims to improve on their goal-scoring record from last season. The transfer speculation surrounding Dybala continues, and fans eagerly anticipate a possible announcement in the coming weeks.
Chelsea are still expected to confirm a couple more sales in what has been a massive clear-out so far. However, it remains to be seen if they will make yet another addition, especially in terms of a striker, which remains top of their priority list at the moment.
