Spurs Transfer news: Two new attackers on Daniel Levy’s radar

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to make one statement signing at least to convince Antonio Conte to stay next season and continue his rebuild at the club.

A new attacker is on their list of players to sign and Spurs have reportedly identified two players who Conte fancy. Here are the latest information on Spurs’ summer targets.

Spurs to pick off with Lautaro Martinez transfer in the summer

Reports from London claim that Tottenham Hotspur are going to revisit their pursuit of Lautaro Martinez transfer in the summer.

The London club reportedly tried to acquire the Argentine’s services in the summer and saw a £60 million deal accepted by Inter Milan. However, Chelsea’s offer of £98 million for Romelu Lukaku voided the deal as Inter were not willing to lose both their star strikers and chose to go with the more lucrative Chelsea deal instead.

Martinez is back on the transfer market as Inter Milan seek to recoup some funds to stabilise their finances, which has been unable to recover from the pandemic-inflicted injuries.

Some reports also claim that Spurs are planning to get Lukaku back from Chelsea to replace Martinez.

Spurs are considering throwing their hat in the ring once more for the Argentine striker in order to keep Antonio Conte happy.

The reports from Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claim that Spurs are still holding on to hope that Harry Kane remains at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium next season, so they can give Conte his dream partnership of Martinez and Kane.

Spurs may have to pay more than the £60 million which they bid for Martinez last season, however, as the striker signed a long term deal with the club in October 2021.

Another obstacle is the striker’s wish to move to Atlético de Madrid instead, with the Spanish champions reportedly interested in taking him to Spain and already in talks with key figures surrounding a potential move for the striker.

Barcelona are also looking for another striker and may pick up from where they left off last season in their pursuit of Martinez’s signature, providing Spurs with another possible headache.

Spurs to reignite interest in Euro 2020 star

Mikkel Damsgaard was on the North London club’s radar last summer after his impressive performances for Denmark at the Euro 2020 tournament.

The club reportedly approached his club, Sampdoria, who acquired him from Danish club Nordsjaelland in 2020. The Italians priced all his suitors out of a deal to keep him at the club for the 2021/22 season, but an arthritis diagnosis has prevented the 21-year-old from featuring for the club this season.

Spurs are still very much interested in the young winger, whose stock has now fallen due to him not playing this season as a result of his arthritis. His agent, Jens Orgaard, talked about his client’s health scare with Italian newspaper Secolo XIX.

“It was a very aggressive form of arthritis. There was no improvement, it felt like it was never going to heal, but thanks to the collaboration between Italian and Danish rheumatologists, a new therapy was designed and gave an excellent response,” Orgaard said.

Damsgaard is now back in full training with his club and could feature in a few games as the season wraps up. The youngster also gave his first interview since returning to training recently. “It’s a very good feeling to be back here, I’m very happy to get to see the teammates again. The squad is different from when last I was here,” he said to Sampdoria’s media.

“I missed Italy and the good weather, so I’m very happy. I got a lot of support from my family, my teammates. It made me really happy and made me want to work harder, as they said they were waiting for me and can’t wait to see me again.

“It’s nice to be back. It’s difficult to explain, but I’ve been sick, in the hospital. It’s been tough, but I’ve gotten over it, I got the right medicine, I am working hard to play again because I want to do what I love and that’s playing football.

“I’m very happy that now I feel good again. The club were very good to me, allowed me to go home so I could see my family and friends because in hospital it’s nice to see your family. I’ve also been training very hard to come back here.”

Spurs are also reportedly interested in Damsgaard because of Conte’s search for a winger who can seamlessly slot into a wing-back role, and the Dane fits the bill as he has been utilised in this position on a number of occasions.
