Salah’s uncertain future at Liverpool amid latest controversy

According to Sky Sports and The Athletic, Salah, has not indicated that he wants to leave, and Liverpool has no intention of selling.

When the Egyptian was getting ready to step onto the pitch as a substitute in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at West Ham, he got into a public altercation with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on the touchline.

That incident made headlines and led to many suggesting that Salah could be on his way out of the club in the summer, added to the fact that Klopp will step down as Liverpool manager at the end of the campaign.

Salah’s post-match comments raises controversy

Following the game, Salah said: “There’s going to be a fire today if I speak.”

Liverpool rejected advances from the Saudi Pro League at the beginning of the season, including a reported £150 million ($188 million) bid from Al Ittihad.

However, Klopp will leave the club at the end of the season, sparking speculation over what the future holds for some of his senior players.

With the support of the Saudi sovereign wealth fund, the Gulf Kingdom is anticipated to be a key factor in the summer transfer window, hoping to entice more big-name players to join a league that currently includes players like Sadio Mane, Neymar, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Salah has scored 24 goals so far this season, but since suffering an injury during the Africa Cup of Nations in January, his form has declined.

Liverpool’s season has fallen apart as Salah’s goals are no longer coming. The Reds are no longer in the running for the Premier League title and have been eliminated from both the FA Cup and the Europa League.

Salah’s three-year contract, which he signed in 2022 for an estimated £18 million annually, has little over a year left on it.

Latest update on Salah’s future

Despite what it might look like, the latest indication is that Salah will stay put at Liverpool for at least one more season, barring any astronomical offer.

Saudi-based sides remain intent on signing the Egyptian forward but it appears Liverpool remain eager to keep their star forward as well.

For Salah, it has been a below par season by his own personal standards but he remains in the race for the Golden boot and can win it once again if he finishes the season strong, starting with Liverpool’s crunch home fixture against Tottenham on Sunday.
