Rossoneri Renew Efforts to Sign Joao Felix in January

AC Milan are intensifying their pursuit of Portuguese forward Joao Felix, with fresh terms reportedly being prepared to persuade Chelsea to sanction a deal for the 25-year-old.

Shift in Transfer Focus

As the January transfer window approaches, the Rossoneri are determined to bolster their attacking options to aid head coach Sergio Conceicao in securing a top-four finish and a Champions League spot for the 2024-25 season. Initially, Milan were in discussions with Manchester United regarding a potential loan move for Marcus Rashford. However, those negotiations appear to have stalled, leading the Italian club to turn their attention toward Stamford Bridge.

Joao Felix, who has shown glimpses of brilliance during his time at Chelsea, remains an integral part of their first-team plans. Chelsea’s management, reluctant to lose a player of his caliber, reportedly declined Milan’s initial proposal of a short-term loan deal. Milan, however, appear undeterred and are working on an improved offer to bring the talented forward to San Siro.

Revised Offer on the Table

According to updates from Calciomercato.com, Milan are now considering an alternative approach to convince Chelsea. Instead of a standard loan, the Italian side may propose an 18-month loan arrangement, coupled with an option to buy for €35 million in the summer of 2026. By then, Joao Felix would still have four years left on his Chelsea contract, making the structure of the deal attractive to both parties.

This potential agreement could provide Chelsea with financial guarantees while allowing Milan to reinforce their attack with a player of Felix’s creative and technical abilities. The Rossoneri are reportedly optimistic that this revised offer aligns with Chelsea’s valuation and long-term planning.

Strategic Importance for Milan

Joao Felix is seen as a key piece in Milan’s strategy to strengthen their attacking depth, particularly as they aim to maintain their competitiveness in both Serie A and European competitions. With Rafael Leao leading the line, the addition of Felix could enhance Milan’s offensive versatility, providing Conceicao with more tactical options.

The club’s urgency in finding reinforcements underscores their ambitions for the second half of the season. While other targets have been considered, Felix remains a top priority, reflecting Milan’s belief in his potential to make an immediate impact.
