PSG are open to selling French defender Presnel Kimpembe. The Paris club have set a transfer fee of £43 million for the defender.
After over a decade since taking over Paris Saint-Germain, the ownership may have understood that building a championship-winning side is not just about buying the best players. It is about pragmatism, team chemistry and a proper plan to achieve one’s goals. Buying galacticos has in the past shown its frailties.
PSG are now looking to find a balance in their team. Asides from their main galacticos of Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe, no player is exempt from being sold. The Paris giants have put some of their players on the market as they look to trim the squad.
With the attempt to offload Neymar hanging in the balance, PSG have warned one of their defenders that he is not untouchable. The club is open to selling Presnel Kimpembe this summer if the right offer comes.
Kimpembe placed on the market
At PSG, only Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi are untouchable. With Angel Di Maria gone, PSG could lose another player, but they remain unperturbed. PSG are reportedly ready to sell French central defender Presnel Kimpembe this summer. The Ligue 1 champions have set the right price at £43 million for the 26-year-old.
Kimpembe has two years left on his contract, but PSG will not block any attempts by interested parties in the defender. The club hopes to finalize any deal for the French star in the next few months.
Kimpembe has featured for the French national team Les Bleus 28 times and was vital for the club in recent seasons. Following the departure of former captain Thiago Silva, Kimpembe took his position permanently. PSG have not told Kimpembe he’s out of the picture, but the defender is at the mercy of whatever proposals arrive for his services.
Chelsea and Juventus show interest
A few clubs are keen on signing Presnel Kimpembe. Chelsea and Juventus head the pack of interested parties. For Chelsea, they need defensive reinforcements. Following the departures of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger, the Blues are in the market for top-quality replacements and Kimpembe ticks all the boxes for the west London club.
Chelsea have other names on their list and are pulling out all the stops to fill in the holes left behind by Rudiger and Christensen. Josko Gvardiol (RB Leipzig), Pau Torres (Villarreal) and Nathan Ake (Manchester City) have been named as Chelsea targets.
PSG are keen to bring in Inter Milan and Slovakia defender Milan Skriniar. Fabrizio Romano reports that PSG offered German defender Thilo Kehrer as part of their offer for Skriniar, but the Italian giants rejected it.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have continued discussions with Manchester City over a deal for Raheem Sterling. According to Ben Jacobs, negotiations are at the final stages. Manchester City is looking to get around £50 million for the speedy forward, and Jacobs says both parties are confident that a transfer fee would be agreed.
