Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly closing in on signing Ukrainian defender Ilya Zabarnyi from AFC Bournemouth in a £60 million deal.
The 22-year-old joined Bournemouth from his boyhood club, Dynamo Kyiv, in 2023 and has made 78 league appearances for the Cherries since then. In that time, clubs across Europe have taken notice of his ability, and now, PSG is the first to make a move.
Following their treble success in the 2024/25 season, which also saw them claim their elusive first UEFA Champions League title, Luis Enrique’s side is looking to freshen up their squad to stay competitive. This comes after his former defensive partner, Dean Huijsen, was snapped up by Real Madrid for £50 million.
The Cherries could also lose another of their starting defenders, with reports claiming that Liverpool are close to completing the signing of left-back Milos Kerkez. This would cost Liverpool around £45 million.
Justin Kluivert could also be leaving the Vitality Stadium this summer thanks to Florian Wirtz’s move to Liverpool. Reports from Germany claim that Bayer Leverkusen’s new manager, Erik ten Hag, wants the Dutchman to replace the German, who is set to become the third most expensive signing of all time in football once the papers of his move to Liverpool are signed. There is no asking price yet, according to reports, but sources claim he could leave for around £25-30 million.
Kluivert’s striker partner, Antoine Semenyo, meanwhile, has been priced at £70 million, and leading the race for his signature is Tottenham Hotspur.
If all four signings are completed soon, Bournemouth will have around £250 million to do business with in the summer transfer window. This is shaping up to be one of their most profitable seasons ever, and they have Andoni Iraola to thank for it.
That money would likely be spent on a few targets, including Michel Adopo of Atalanta. The French midfielder spent time on loan at Cagliari, helped them to avoid relegation while being a staple in their midfield, and returned to his parent club at the completion of the season. Cagliari have an option to sign him for €4 million, after which they intend to sell him for a profit. Bournemouth could swoop in and pay the €4 million to Atalanta or deal with Cagliari if they get there first.
Meanwhile, Kerkez has a replacement already in €17 million-rated Adrien Truffert of Rennes in Ligue 1, who reports claim Bournemouth have already struck a deal for.
