Parma have shown interest in signing Arsenal’s Fabio Vieira, who recently returned from a loan spell at Porto. The Portuguese midfielder, 25, is reportedly a key target for Carlos Cuesta, who is preparing for his first season as a head coach in Italy. Cuesta, who previously spent close to five years as Mikel Arteta’s assistant at the Emirates, is believed to be a driving force behind the pursuit.
Vieira joined the Premier League side in the summer of 2020 for a deal worth up to £34.2 million with performance-based incentives. However, the transfer has yet to meet expectations, and Arsenal are now prepared to part ways with the player. Should Parma decide to submit an official bid, the Gunners are open to negotiating a sale.
Arsenal willing to cut losses on Portuguese midfielder
Following an underwhelming stint in north London, Vieira’s value has dropped, with the club reportedly placing a £17 million price tag on him. With two years remaining on his contract, Arsenal are keen to offload him this summer rather than risk a further decline in market value.
During his recent campaign with Porto, Vieira played 42 matches across all competitions, recording five goals and six assists. He also featured in the Club World Cup during that loan spell but failed to deliver consistently, prompting Arsenal’s willingness to consider offers.
Gunners continue their summer overhaul
Vieira’s potential departure comes as Arsenal look to reinforce their forward line. The club is actively pursuing Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, reportedly tabling a proposal worth around £50 million including add-ons. Talks between the London clubs are still ongoing, though the offer is thought to be close to Chelsea’s asking price.
The north London outfit is also monitoring Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, with Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo also among the attacking options under consideration. However, further sales may be necessary to accommodate multiple high-profile arrivals.
