Newcastle consider record bid for Frankfurt striker

Newcastle United are looking into the possibility of signing Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike in what could become a club-record transfer. The 23-year-old French attacker was one of the standout players in the Bundesliga last season, registering 15 goals and providing eight assists as Frankfurt secured a third-place finish.

Although Ekitike has only recently made his move to Germany permanent after initially arriving on loan from Paris St-Germain, Newcastle are now evaluating the costs of bringing him to England. With four years remaining on his contract, any deal for the striker is expected to exceed £70m.

No plans to let go of Isak

Despite Ekitike emerging as a key target, Newcastle have no plans to part with Alexander Isak. The Swedish international, who arrived from Real Sociedad in 2022 for £63m, finished the previous season as the team’s leading scorer and continues to attract interest from several top European clubs, including Liverpool.

Club sources have made it clear that the Magpies are not considering offers for the 25-year-old. Isak’s contributions have been vital to Newcastle’s recent success, and the club view him as central to their long-term plans.

Summer rebuild continues with Elanga arrival

Newcastle are pushing forward with their recruitment strategy following a strong Premier League campaign that saw them claim fifth place and a return to the Champions League. Last week, they finalised the acquisition of winger Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest in a £55m transfer.

The club’s ambition to strengthen ahead of the new season is evident as they target players with both proven output and future potential. Ekitike, with his recent rise in form and age profile, fits into that model as Newcastle aim to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts.
