Napoli in talks for Scott McTominay transfer from Manchester United

Napoli are actively pursuing a deal for Manchester United’s Scott McTominay, responding to an urgent request from manager Antonio Conte. The Serie A club has identified the Scottish midfielder as a key target for this summer’s transfer window, as they aim to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming season.

Negotiations in progress

Napoli’s Sporting Director, Giovanni Manna, is currently in London to hold discussions with McTominay’s representatives. The Italian side is keen to understand the player’s conditions and demands before moving forward. A formal meeting with Manchester United is planned in the coming days, where Napoli will present an initial offer reportedly around €25 million, including potential bonuses. However, the Partenopei are waiting to hear United’s valuation of the midfielder before moving forward with their proposal.

Napoli had been considering alternative options in Billy Gilmour and David Neres, but talks for these players have been put on hold. The club is focusing on securing McTominay, viewing him as a better fit for their tactical requirements, particularly as a technically skilled midfielder.

Plans for the upcoming season

Napoli’s desire to bring McTominay into their squad stems from their ambition to improve upon last season’s performances. The club is determined to reinforce its midfield and avoid any mid-season slumps that could hinder their progress. By targeting quality players such as McTominay, they hope to build a stronger team capable of challenging for top honors in Serie A.

The Neapolitans are confident that a solution will be reached soon with Manchester United, as they look to finalize their transfer business and move forward with their preparations for the upcoming campaign.
