MWOS One Community Boosts Conservation with Key Contribution to Bhejane Trust

MWOS One Community, a renowned pillar for community development, has taken a significant step forward in wildlife conservation by partnering with Bhejane Trust, an organization committed to the preservation of wildlife in Zimbabwe. This collaboration underscores a shared vision for environmental stewardship and genuinely reflects MWOS One Community’s ongoing commitment to impactful community initiatives.

In a strategic initiative to bolster Bhejane Trust’s conservation capabilities, MWOS One Community has provided critical equipment, including solar panels, inverters, and submersible pumps. This enhancement aims to expand the capacity of existing water points, which are vital for the sustenance of wildlife in the area. Additionally, MWOS One Community has pledged a contribution towards the maintenance of anti-poaching vehicles, essential for protecting vulnerable species from illegal hunting activities.

Key locations benefiting from these enhancements include Chamabondo Vlei in the southern section of the Zambezi National Park, Kazuma Pan National Park in the Kazuma Depression, and Hwange National Park, particularly in the Sinamatella and Robins Camp areas. Since the beginning of May 2024, the Bhejane team has tirelessly worked to install the equipment, achieving significant positive outcomes.

In Chamabondo No. 1, the new equipment is pumping an additional 20,000 liters of water daily, amounting to about 600,000 liters per month. This increase in water supply is crucial, providing enough water for an additional 150 elephants each day.

At Andres Pan in the Chamabondo Vlei, the replacement of aging pumps and motors has increased the water flow to 50,000 liters per day, offering an extra 1.5 million liters of water each month to local wildlife.

Moreover, in the Corner Pan of Kazuma Pan National Park, the installation of an inverter, battery, and panel system supports approximately 12 hours of water pumping daily. To manage the high demand from local and migratory elephants from Botswana, MWOS donated an additional 5kWh, 100 AH lithium battery, extending the pumping by 3 to 4 hours at night. This enhancement has increased the water supply by 15,000 extra liters daily, benefiting the resident hippo pod and a diverse array of species that inhabit this natural depression.

Through initiatives like these, MWOS One Community demonstrates its profound commitment to not only fostering community development but also ensuring the preservation and sustainability of Zimbabwe’s natural heritage. These efforts are vital in maintaining biodiversity and supporting the ecosystems within Zimbabwe’s national parks.
