Muller looking forward to Champions League reunion with Lewandowski

Thomas Muller is delighted at the clash between Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the Champions League this season.

The Champions League draws pit Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the same group with Inter Milan and Viktoria Plzen.

With the Champions League draws on Thursday, the season has officially started.

Every year football comes with its intrigues and drama. It has always made for interesting viewing as it throws up exciting takes. There is always something to talk about, and this year is no different. It is safe to say football is back, and the battle to dethrone Real Madrid as European champions are firmly underway.

The UEFA Champions League draws occurred on Thursday evening, with the top stars on the ground to witness the occasion. As usual, the talk centred around expected match-ups, and the final draw did not disappoint.

Following the draws, there were some interesting pairings. The cream of the crop is Barcelona and Bayern Munich. The Catalan giants ended up in group C with their arch nemesis Bayern Munich.

Other teams in the group are Inter Milan and Viktoria Plzen. Pundits have described it as the group of death. The main talking point is the return of Robert Lewandowski to his old stomping ground.

Muller delighted with Lewandowski face-off

The Champions League draw did not fail to provide some drama in the pairings it threw up this year. There are many face-offs in this year’s competition.

Thomas Muller is looking forward to facing former teammate Robert Lewandowski in the Champions League. There is Fikayo Tomori up against his former club Chelsea, and Adrien Rabiot has the opportunity of doing PSG dirty.

Erling Haaland will be up against Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid playing against Shakhtar Donetsk for the umpteenth time. All this pale into nothing compared to the tie that drew Lewandowski and Bayern Munich together.

Barcelona versus Bayern Munich in group C has drawn all the attention as they are pitched together for the second season in a row.

The two sides have a rich history that gives Bayern Munich the edge. The talking point this year is about Lewandowski, who will be up against the club he left this summer. Thomas Muller said he is looking forward to the tie.

Muller bares his mind

Lewandowski forced his way out of the Allianz Arena earlier this summer as he angled for a Barca move. Los Blaugrana eventually got their man for €50m, shocking Bayern chiefs due to the financial situation of the Catalan giants.

Muller was quick to air his views on the draws. The German took to social media to share a pun and excitement at such a reunion.

Muller started with a grin following his post. He described the draw as a nice one for the football fans.

He continued by sending a message to Lewandowski. He told the Polish striker – Mr Lewan-goal-ski, see you soon in Munich.

Bayern Munich seems to have found their foot and have started the season on a high note despite the absence of Lewandowski. Senegalese striker Sadio Mane has taken his place and is filling the boots well. The Bavarians have won all their matches this season.

Meanwhile, Barcelona is still struggling to find some rhythm as player sales and purchases continue at the cash-strapped club. They drew their first La Liga match 0-0 with Rayo Vallecano and beat Real Sociedad 4-1, with Lewandowski scoring his first official goal for Barcelona.
