Manchester United players unhappy with ten Hag

Reports of unrest caused by Erik ten Hag within the Manchester United squad have hit the media.

The Dutch manager is being accused of being too hard on his players by a section of the players themselves. They believe his training methods and his matchday simulations are unrealistic and taxing.

This comes out after they lost the Manchester derby to Manchester City, who are fighting to defend their title and break United’s record of a Premier League three-peat.

Erik ten Hag is currently in limbo about his future as well. The INEOS Group, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, have not made known their position to the manager or the media just yet. This is despite all the backroom and executive staff changes, and squad building moves they have been making.

The former AFC Ajax manager is unsure that he will continue. However, there seems to be a unanimous agreement in the club that they will wait for United’s fate at the end of the season to make a decision.

What this means is that they will see if he can close the 11-point gap to Aston Villa and qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Paul Scholes believes that the INEOS Group have already decided not to continue with ten Hag despite their silence on the matter. He said in a TV broadcast, “What we’re seeing is a million miles away from a team that should be challenging for the league. Every single season it’s just so far away.”

“I think they [INEOS] have already made their mind up. I don’t think he will be there next season. No.”

“From the interviews, we’ve heard with Sir Jim, I thought there was a little bit of negativity towards the club the last 10 or 11 years and especially the last two years. I don’t think he’s happy with what’s going on. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re looking for a new manager now. I’m not saying it’s the right decision.”

Meanwhile, reports have emerged that Manchester United are the main contenders to land Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian striker is almost certain to leave Napoli at the end of the season and has been linked with a move to Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. Fresh reports now indicate that Osimhen could be headed to United instead, with INEOS ready to make him the club’s marquee signing.

They will face stiff competition from PSG, who are looking to replace the departing Kylian Mbappe with Osimhen.
