Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek out for the rest of the season

Donny van de Beek sustained a knee injury three days into the New Year as the Red Devils beat Bournemouth. The injury leaves his Man United future in doubt despite assurances from Ten Hag.

It has been a torrid time for Donny van de Beek since he arrived at Old Trafford. The Dutch midfielder has struggled to get into the starting 11 of the Manchester United side. The former Ajax striker arrived from Ajax with a lot of promise, but things have gone to script for the young man.

Things seem to be going from bad to worse for the midfielder. With the arrival of fellow countryman and former Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag, many thought it would ring succour for Donny, but he continues to struggle to find a place in the team.

The latest prognosis for the former Ajax midfielder is not good, with Donny set to be on the sidelines for a lengthy period. Following the injury he picked up in the 3-0 victory over Bournemouth, the manager, Erik Ten Hag, confirmed that Donny would be out of action for the rest of the season.

No respite for Donny van de Beek

Donny van de Beek has been struggling to find form for Manchester United. The former Ajax midfielder, who enjoyed plenty of accolades in the Netherlands, is nowhere close to being a regular for the Red Devils. Under several managers, he has found it an arduous task to break into the team.

Things have gone from bad to worse for Donny, as he copped an injury on 3 January in the 3-0 win over Bournemouth. Erik Ten Hag painted a grim picture of his situation. According to Ten Hag, Donny is out of the team for the rest of the season. The manager is gutted at the implication of the news to Van de Beek.

Ten Hag suggests that the situation is not as straightforward as thought. He fears that not only has the season ended for Van de Beek, but it would keep him sidelined for an even lengthier period. Ten Hag believes Van de Beek will be back when Manchester United begins its pre-season campaign in the summer.

The prognosis of Van de Beek and Man Utd

Ten Hag reports that it was a knee injury for Van de Beek. He said, looking at the long term, it bodes well for Van de Beek. He is out for the rest of the season but will be back for the commencement of the preseason.

Van de Beek arrived at Manchester United from Ajax in 2020 for £35 million but has struggled to impact the team. He has only made two league starts this term, with the second coming against Bournemouth. Ten Hag expressed his sympathy for Van de Beek.

Ten Hag noted that it was a sorry situation for Donny, and everyone’s thoughts are with him.

United lock horns with city rivals Manchester City in a massive derby on Saturday. A win for the Red Devils takes them to within a point of the defending champions.

Diogo Dalot will miss the tie after limping off with a knock in the game against Bournemouth. Anthony Martial is also doubtful with a leg injury.
