Manchester United eye Bundesliga duo in €150m transfer plan

Manchester United are preparing for a significant squad overhaul in the upcoming transfer window, with reports linking them to two promising Bundesliga midfielders. Following a frustrating season, the club is determined to reshape its squad under incoming manager Ruben Amorim, aiming to bring in players who better fit his tactical philosophy.

United’s scouting efforts have been focused on Germany’s top division, with a number of potential signings emerging from the Bundesliga. Among them, RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons and Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha have been identified as key targets in a spending spree that could reach €150m.

Xavi Simons Tops the Wishlist

According to Sky Sports Germany, the Red Devils have set their sights on Simons, a versatile attacking midfielder who can operate in multiple positions. Amorim is particularly interested in reinforcing this area of the pitch, and the 21-year-old Dutchman has emerged as a prime candidate.

However, acquiring Simons will not come cheap. Leipzig, who secured his permanent transfer in January following an 18-month loan spell from Paris Saint-Germain, are expected to demand at least €80m (£67m) for his services.

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to invest heavily this summer, with additional funds potentially coming from player sales. One of the names mentioned in possible departures is rising star Kobbie Mainoo, whose exit could generate substantial revenue to support their recruitment drive.

Nmecha considered as midfield reinforcement

Further back in midfield, United are exploring options to bring in a natural central midfielder, with BILD naming Felix Nmecha as a possible acquisition. The Dortmund midfielder, who previously spent time at Manchester City’s academy, could be brought in for a fee of around €47.8m (£40m).

While Dortmund are reluctant to let the 23-year-old leave, their poor domestic performance—mirroring United’s struggles—has placed them in a difficult financial position. With Champions League qualification slipping away, the German club may be forced to part with key players to offset losses.

Manchester United are keen to capitalize on Dortmund’s predicament and see Nmecha as a suitable successor to Christian Eriksen, who has publicly hinted at a summer departure. If both deals materialize, United’s midfield could undergo a major transformation as Amorim begins shaping his squad for the challenges ahead.
