Manchester City seal record £1bn kit deal with Puma

Manchester City have confirmed a significant extension of their kit deal with German sportswear brand Puma, securing an agreement that will run until at least 2035. The renewed contract is understood to be worth at least £1 billion over the duration, equating to approximately £100 million per season.

This new arrangement replaces the previous agreement signed in 2019, which had been valued at £65 million per year. The updated figure now stands as the largest of its kind in the Premier League, surpassing Manchester United’s £90 million annual deal with Adidas, agreed in 2023. Liverpool, who are also supplied by the same brand as United, have a reported contract worth £60 million per year starting this season.

The collaboration between City and Puma has been fruitful, both on the field and commercially, with the club highlighting global record-breaking merchandise sales since the original deal was signed.

Historic success and growth

During the partnership, City have enjoyed a period of dominance in English football, capturing four league titles and securing a treble two years ago. However, last campaign ended without silverware, marking a rare season without major honours.

In the financial year ending 30 June 2024, the club reported a league-best income of £715 million. Commercial income also rose slightly from the previous year, reaching £344.7 million.

City Football Group’s chief executive Ferran Soriano praised the collaboration, saying it had exceeded expectations and highlighted Puma’s smooth integration into the club’s structure. He credited the relationship for helping connect with supporters around the world and achieving landmark moments.

Brand perspective and global impact

Puma’s chief executive Arthur Hoeld described the relationship with City as a resounding triumph, noting that the combination of sporting success, product exposure, and financial results had created exceptional outcomes.

City and Puma’s extended alliance reflects a shared ambition to build on an already successful foundation and to continue setting benchmarks in both football performance and commercial ventures.
