Manchester City: Mauricio Pochettino to Take Over from Pep Guardiola After He Leaves

Recent rumours surfacing from Etihad, reveal that Manchester City are tipping former PSG coach, Pochettino to take over from Guardiola after he resigns.

The former PSG was instrumental in helping the French giants clinch the Ligue 1 title after missing out on it in the 2020 season.

Ponchettino would end up getting sacked by the team following PSG’s disappointing run in the last Champions League campaign. The club is said to have their eyes set on winning the Champions League and is convinced the Argentine is not the man to take them to that destination.

The Argentine having carried Tottenham to the Champions League final in 2019, is still rated highly to make any team a tough competition in the tournament.

The Argentine was initially tipped to become Manchester United’s manager, however, Erik Ten Haag came behind to steal the show.

The City Manager after sealing a dramatic win against Aston Villa that saw them clinch the EPL title was asked about his future with the club.

In the interview with Sky Sports, he said, “I feel loved in the club, with the team, with the staff. I feel comfortable. I don’t ask for anything else than what I have. Anything.

“So, I have everything I dreamed to be a manager in one place, I have everything here. That’s why I think, ‘why should I change when I still have the energy?”

There is no telling when this move is expected to happen but it appears Guardiola is ready to move on soon leaving the big shoes for possible entrants like Pochettino.

Ex Man City Midfielder on Pochettino Succeeding Guardiola

Former Manchester City midfielder, Trevor Sinclair was said to have an interview with talkSport where he aired his opinion about Pochettino tipped to takeover from Guardiola.

“It doesn’t matter how big the players are; we have seen him managing [Lionel] Messi, [Kylian] Mbappe and Neymar. So on that side of things, I think he is safe hands. He is a charming man and I think he comes across well in the media.

“I actually feel that Manchester City might be the club for him. I think he might have a bit of a sabbatical now, because I’m sure he is not struggling for finances.

“But I think Manchester City could be the one for him. If Guardiola walks away at a certain stage, that might be a hot seat ready to take for Pochettino.”
