Manchester City midfielder Jack Grealish has claimed that the team feels unstoppable after lifting the Premier League trophy for the third straight season.
City defeated 1 – 0 Chelsea at the Etihad on Sunday and lifted their third straight top flight crown in front of their fans. The ecelebrations were massive and went on for hours inside the stadium.
That game would have determined their fate as title winners but they did not have to go all out thanks to Arsenal, who handed them the title when they failed to get the better of Nottingham Forest the day before.
Pep Guardiola put out a more relaxed side, who still went and grabbed all three points against the visiting Blues to send their supporters into wild jubilation.
At the title celebrations, Grealish, who is winning his second straight league title since making the switch from Aston Villa in 2021/22, claimed that the team is in the best form of their lives at the moment, with two more finals ahead of them.
“We’ve got so much talent in the squad,” said Grealish. “We feel unstoppable really at the moment. I feel so much more confident, fitter and back to what I know I can do.
“This is why Man City brought me here. I have a lot more to offer. I’m over the moon. It doesn’t stop here, we still have massive games coming up.
“It’s different. I feel this year I played much more of a part. I feel confident, back to my normal self.
“This year, I feel like I played much more of a part, it’s nice man!” Grealish also commented on their incredible winning run which saw them catch up to and overtake Arsenal to retain their Premier League crown. “We have felt invincible,” he said.
“Imagine if someone said you have to win 12 games in a row to win the league? “I can’t put my finger on one thing (that was the turning point), but especially since the last international break we feel unstoppable. “Since then we’ve been unbelievable, especially April, I think it was the best month the club has ever had. I’m over the moon, buzzing. “This year (has been better for me). I feel like I played so much more of a part. I feel back to myself.”
City have Brighton and Hove Albion next before rounding off the season against Brentford. These games will come before their UEFA Champions League and FA Cup finals against Internazionale of the Serie A and derby rivals Manchester United respectively.
United comes first in their path to a first European treble since Bayern Munich achieved the feat in 2020 and a first Premier League treble since United achieved it in 1999. Then they will wrap it up with the big one against Inter, who are also seeking a second trophy to mark a successful season in Italy.
