Luis Díaz open to summer move amid Barcelona interest

Liverpool forward Luis Díaz has suggested he is open to a potential summer transfer, revealing that he is currently in talks with other clubs. The Colombian international, who has two years remaining on his current contract, has attracted strong interest from Barcelona, despite the Spanish club’s financial constraints.

During a press conference while on international duty in South America, Díaz spoke candidly about his future, indicating that while he is content at Liverpool, he is considering all possibilities. His openness to other offers puts pressure on Liverpool to present a new contract that meets his expectations.

“I’m very happy at Liverpool, I’ve always said so. They’ve welcomed me very well,” Díaz said. “We’re in contact with them, and also talking to other clubs. It’s normal during the transfer window.”

Contract talks and transfer window possibilities

Díaz acknowledged that discussions are ongoing regarding a possible extension with the Premier League club. He expressed a willingness to stay, but also confirmed he is prepared to see out the final two years of his deal if the terms offered don’t meet his standards. This position raises the possibility of him leaving on a free transfer in 2027.

He made it clear that Liverpool holds the key to his next move, stating that he is waiting to see what the club decides before making a final decision. “If Liverpool gives us a good extension or I have to see out my two-year contract, I’ll be happy. It all depends on them,” he added.

Meanwhile, a recent report from Barcelona suggested that the player may be trying to engineer an exit from Anfield. However, Liverpool have reportedly responded by stating that he is not available for transfer, shutting down any hope Barcelona may have had of securing a deal.

Financial stakes and squad plans

Barcelona’s pursuit of Díaz faces a significant hurdle in the form of Liverpool’s valuation. The Merseyside club is believed to have set an asking price of £67.5 million, which is currently seen as too steep for the financially restricted La Liga side.

At the same time, Liverpool are looking to strengthen their attacking options. The club is pursuing a deal for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, with their current offer said to be worth £109.5 million. Although Leverkusen is demanding a higher fee, Liverpool’s ownership is reportedly willing to meet the asking price.

Selling Díaz could help fund such a major signing, which is a factor that may have encouraged Barcelona’s interest. However, with Liverpool maintaining that the Colombian is not on the market, the situation remains unresolved.
