Of all the brilliant performers on the Moroccan side, Sofyan Amrabat has caught the eyes of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds are keen to bolster their midfield bogged by injuries. Following a successful outing that saw Morocco beat Canada, Belgium, Spain and Portugal to reach the semi-final, Amrabat has attracted the interest of the Reds.
Amrabat is a potential target for Liverpool in the January transfer window
Liverpool are looking at several central midfielders, including Enzo Fernandez of Argentina and Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund. Jurgen Klopp prefers Bellingham but has a battle on his hands as Real Madrid is also interested.
It has not stopped Liverpool from expressing their interest in bringing Amrabat to Anfield.
Amrabat is uninterested in Liverpool move
Following the interest from Liverpool, Amrabat has quickly doused speculations over his future. The Moroccan midfielder is not keen on leaving Fiorentina yet.
With Liverpool targeting the midfielder for a January move, his agent Alberto Maria has poured cold water on the reports.
Maria insists Amrabat is loyal to Fiorentina after they decided not to sign Lucas Gorreira permanently. He continued that Fiorentina enjoys his qualities, given Torreira covered his position last year. According to Maria, they have received many phone calls concerning Amrabat, but they respect the choices by Fiorentina.
Amrabat elaborated on the stance of his agent. He told Marca it was a great honour to be in links to these clubs, but he remains a player for Fiorentina. Amrabat said he has a lot of respect for his club.
Amrabat also stressed that he has a great coach [Vincenzo Italiano] and enjoys a fantastic relationship with the owner Rocco Commisso.
Amrabat joined Fiorentina in the summer of 2020 after stints at Utrecht, Feyenoord, Club Brugge and Hellas Verona. The Moroccan midfielder has made 78 appearances for Fiorentina and has 18 months left on his contract.
