Liverpool interested in Aston Villa star for next summer

According to reports from the Daily Star, Liverpool are interested in signing Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa in the summer.

The Villans, currently managed by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is currently on the up in the Premier League this season. One of the reasons is the impeccable form of a number of players, including Jacob Ramsey.

The 20-year-old midfielder joined Aston Villa at the age of six and has been with the club since then. A loan spell at Doncaster Rovers helped him become a well-rounded player.

He made his senior debut under Dean Smith this season but was unable to really show his talents until Steven Gerrard replaced the current Norwich City manager at Villa Park in December.

Daily Star now reports that Liverpool are looking at the possibility of signing Ramsey in the summer as manager Jurgen Klopp looks to reshuffle and reshape his current midfield options.

Klopp is also looking at reducing the current age profile of his squad and as such is going for younger players. His current midfield options have players who are on the wrong side of 25 and the German tactician is hoping to bring in some fresh, young blood to push Liverpool forward.

Ramsey will be joining the likes of Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Fabio Carvalho and Luis Diaz in Liverpool’s new young lineup come next season if Aston Villa allow the Reds to sign him.

Ramsey to cost Liverpool a lot less than original target

Liverpool have been linked with Borussia Dortmund’s 18-year-old midfielder June Bellingham for the past two seasons. The former Birmingham City midfielder has been making waves while playing in the black and yellow of the German club.

Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United have all been linked with Bellingham and as such Dortmund would like to make bank from his potential transfer.

According to reports in the press, Dortmund will demand a nine-figure sum from any club interested in signing Bellingham this summer.

Ramsey is a cheaper alternative to Bellingham. The young midfielder will not come cheap regardless but compared to Bellingham who has already made his England debut, Ramsey would cost a lot less.

His current value is set at £13.5 million but following his great season under Steven Gerrard, his price is sure to go up and Liverpool will not mind breaking the bank for the midfielder as Jurgen Klopp continues his squad shake-up.
