Latest update on Nunez’ future at Liverpool

Darwin Nunez, is reportedly very unhappy at Liverpool and wants to leave Anfield.

Nunez’s recent Instagram activity has fueled rumours about his future and has been connected to a possible move to Barcelona to replace Robert Lewandowski.

The Uruguayan international has removed every post on Liverpool from his account, a move that former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton has called “dumb”. Nunez’s choice to alter his Instagram account, according to the pundit, indicates that he is dissatisfied with the club and wants to leave.

The striker has not lived up to expectations in the current season, combining with a below par season for Liverpool where they won the Carabao Cup but missed out on all other forms of silverware.

With Klopp on his way out of the club in the summer, there is all indication that Nunez could equally be looking away from Anfield ahead of next season, especially as it was Klopp that pushed for the forward’s move.

Nunez’ future at Liverpool now uncertain

Chris Sutton said ln All Kicking Off podcast: “If somebody does that I assume he wants out or is off somewhere.”

“If he’s doing stuff like that, he’s certainly brought attention to it and you’ve cottoned on to it. At least years ago when players wanted to leave they didn’t have all this nonsense, they could have all their own thoughts and keep it under wraps.”

“It’s a pretty dumb move from his point of view if he wanted a move to sneak under the radar, or the way he’s feeling at this particular time to sneak under the radar, and nobody cotton on to something.”

“Why has he done it? It just looks like he’s going to be on his way, or he’s deeply unhappy with the club.”

Nunez isn’t having his best time at Liverpool right now. The striker has been withdrawn from Jurgen Klopp’s starting lineup after just scoring once in his last 11 outings for the Reds.

Nunez has scored eighteen goals this season in all competitions, but he has drawn criticism for his tendency to waste huge chances in front of goal.

With Klopp expected to leave Liverpool after nearly ten years in command, there will be a lot of changes during the summer. There is also talk that Mohamed Salah may follow the German out the door. After Klopp steps down, Arne Slot, the current manager of Feyenoord, will have responsibility for continuing the success Klopp experienced at Anfield.
