Kvaratskhelia Poised for Napoli Extension Despite Big Club Interest

Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has caught the attention of top European clubs, including PSG and Barcelona. However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Georgian winger is likely to stay with Napoli by signing a contract extension that includes a release clause. Napoli’s President, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is set to meet with Kvaratskhelia’s agent, Mamuka Jugeli, to negotiate the new terms. This meeting is anticipated to take place at the start of the season, within the next two weeks.

Financial Details of the New Contract

Negotiations have reached a critical point, with Kvaratskhelia’s entourage demanding a €5 million yearly salary. Napoli, on the other hand, is offering €4 million plus additional bonuses. Despite the interest from PSG and Barcelona, the Ligue 1 club appears to be the frontrunner due to their stronger financial position. PSG’s significant financial capabilities make them a formidable competitor, but Napoli is keen on retaining their star player.

Potential Release Clause and Market Interest

De Laurentiis has not dismissed the possibility of selling the Georgian star if a suitable offer arises. Still, the most plausible outcome seems to be an extended contract featuring a significant release clause. This clause is speculated to be over €100 million, potentially nearing the €120 million to €130 million range, similar to Victor Osimhen’s clause. Kvaratskhelia’s current contract, which pays him €1.5 million annually, is set to expire in June 2027. Despite Napoli’s recent title win in the 2022-23 season, the club did not immediately offer him a new deal, but they are now preparing to present a formal proposal.

Strategic Importance for Napoli

Kvaratskhelia has proven to be a crucial asset for Napoli, significantly contributing to their recent successes. His performance on the field has not gone unnoticed, prompting top clubs to express interest. By securing his future with a new contract and a high release clause, Napoli aims to not only retain their star player but also ensure they receive substantial compensation if a transfer occurs. This strategy reflects Napoli’s intent to maintain their competitive edge while navigating the financial demands of keeping top talent.
