Kane ends trophy drought as Bayern celebrate in style

Harry Kane finally ended his long wait for club silverware, playing a key role in Bayern Munich’s 2-0 home victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday. The win came during a special occasion at the Allianz Arena — Thomas Müller’s farewell home appearance in a Bayern shirt.

The result was never in doubt for the newly crowned Bundesliga champions, who approached the match with focus and precision despite having already secured the league title. Under the leadership of Vincent Kompany, the hosts wasted no time imposing their rhythm, pressing high and controlling possession from kickoff.

Kane opened the scoring midway through the first half. The move began with Michael Olise weaving inside from the right wing, beating defenders with quick footwork before releasing a low shot. The ball brushed Kane’s foot on the way in, just enough for the striker to claim the goal — his 25th in the Bundesliga this season, marking the sixth time he has reached that number in domestic league play.

Emotional send-off for Müller as Olise stars

The match also served as a heartfelt tribute to Thomas Müller, who played his last home match for the Bavarians. With the game essentially decided in the second half, Kompany made a poignant substitution to honor the club legend. As Müller left the field, fans in the Allianz Arena erupted in applause, chanting his name in unison. Teammates showed their respect by forming a guard of honour, celebrating the contributions of the 35-year-old forward who has been a central figure at the club for many years.

Olise, meanwhile, was one of the standout performers of the match. The £60 million signing showcased his creativity and flair, keeping Gladbach’s defenders constantly on edge. He added a goal to his name in added time, thanks to a sharp assist from Leroy Sane, who threaded a pass between defenders to set him up. Olise calmly finished past the goalkeeper, securing Bayern’s second of the day.

This performance was another reminder of Olise’s value. After questions were raised about his transfer fee, he has responded emphatically, now totaling 15 goals and 19 assists across 48 matches in all competitions this season.
