Juventus latest: Bianconeri contact Atlético for Morata and Atalanta for Muriel

Juventus are still looking for another striker to pair with Dusan Vlahovic next season. However, the Bianconeri are still interested in keeping Alvaro Morata at the club but not at the price Atlético de Madrid are requesting.

As a result, the Old Lady have contacted the agents of Atalanta forward Luis Muriel as they prepare to replace two attackers ahead of the summer transfer window.

They lost Paulo Dybala on a free transfer at the end of the just concluded season and are set to lose Morata who’s two-year loan spell also ended with the season.

Muriel became an option after the Spanish club refused to lower their €28 million valuation of Morata to Juventus’ offer of €15 million. Atlético initially included a €35 million option to buy clause but Juventus were not willing to take it up.

The discussions are still ongoing for Morata, but it is understood that the Bianconeri will focus solely on Muriel if Atlético continue to play hardball with their striker.

Meanwhile, Fiorentina owner, Rocco Commisso, believes that Vlahovic made the wrong choice by going to Juventus.

A number of clubs were hot on the Serbian’s trail in January but he chose Juventus, taking up the recently vacated number 7 shirt to continue Cristiano Ronaldo’s work at the club.

Commisso spoke to the media, claiming Vlahovic could have ruined them and that he would have been better off staying with Fiorentina than going to a troubled Juventus.

“I told [the Fiorentina directors] to find another attacker and they bought Piatek and then Cabral,” Commisso said. “In the meantime, the lad who could have ruined us (Vlahovic), who told us he would sign then blocked the signing of a centre-forward in August.

“I don’t know how many months they (Vlahovic’s camp) had been speaking to Juventus for, but a week later, after he didn’t want Arsenal, Real [Madrid], and Atletico, Juventus came forward and we struck a deal.

“The situation went like this: but if they signed a contract with us, he would have done better than how he is doing at Juventus.”
