Jurgen Klopp hails Liverpool after 7-1 win over Rangers

Jurgen Klopp has praised his side following their emphatic 7-1 win over Rangers at the Ibrox stadium. Liverpool now need just a point from their last two group games to scale through to the round of 16.

Liverpool took on Rangers, perhaps the weakest team in the Champions League, on Wednesday night. With a dark cloud upon the Anfield side, they were in full flight as they made mincemeat of the Scottish opposition. The heavy thrashing they gave Rangers was their third win in the group where they have been playing catch up with Napoli.

The Reds are in a crisis, as they have lost several games this season, both in the Champions and Premier League, but Jurgen Klopp has maintained that better days are ahead for the club. Trailing league leaders Arsenal by 13 points and a loss at the Emirates showed how much ground they’ve lost this season.

Jurgen Klopp was a happy man on Wednesday night as Liverpool went full blast to remind naysayers of the force they can be when in form. The Reds came from a goal behind to hammer the Scottish giants 7-1 to get a foothold on the second spot on the log.

Jurgen Klopp praises team performance

It looked like the same old story when Rangers stole the lead against Liverpool. It felt like the demons that have haunted the Reds this season were back at play, but Liverpool responded well. They got an equalizer through Roberto Firmino before the half was over. From then on, it was one-way traffic.

Speaking about the game, Jurgen Klopp said he had a positive half-time talk with his wards. Klopp claims he was unhappy conceding the early goal. Klopp, however, praised his players for their response. In his post-match comments, Klopp said he wanted more of the team in the second half, and they delivered.

Klopp said the idea to keep them moving worked fine, and he praised Mo Salah for his hat trick. Klopp said everybody who started the match played well. The German tactician opined that there was none of his players that didn’t have a good game. He also singled out Fabio and Harvey for praise.

Seven goals and a stern test ahead

Liverpool hammered Rangers 7-1, one of their highest Champions League victories. Once the Reds hit top gear, it was game over for Rangers. The Scottish side was no match for the Reds and was hapless in the face of firepower from the Reds. Rangers could do little to stem the tide of attack.

Liverpool went behind in the 17th minute through Arfield, but Liverpool came storming right back five minutes later through Roberto Firmino. The Brazilian, who has been Liverpool’s best player this term, got his brace in the second half to make it 2-1. From then on, it was one-way traffic. Darwin Nunez got in on the act in the 66th minute.

Mo Salah came off the bench and scored the fastest hat trick in Champions League history.

The Egyptian scored a hat trick, with six minutes and 12 seconds separating his first and third goals. Harvey Elliot added sheen to the scoreline with the seventh goal in the 87th minute.

Liverpool needs one point to qualify for the round of 16. Liverpool has a stern test this weekend when they host Manchester City at Anfield. The Reds are tenth on the log with ten points from eight games.
